How to Join
- So how do I join?
- Luckily, that's the easy part. Just show up! You may sit in the back and watch or bring
loose fitting clothes to wear in class. The only requirement is that you must have a valid
University ID card in order to enter the Natatorium.
- Do I need to have prior experience?
- No. We welcome people of all experience levels. If you have no martial arts experience, we
offer a Beginner's class during the Fall and Spring semesters. You don't have to be there from
the first week of the semester, but the sooner you show up, the more you get to learn.
- What if I have experience in a different martial art?
- That's excellent! We welcome people from all different martial arts backgrounds. Depending
on your background, you may find the class more to your liking. Feel free to show up and
introduce yourself to the instructors. They will help you decide if you should attend the
Advanced class right away, or if the Beginner's class would be a better introduction to the
art of Tae Kwon Do.
- Do I need a uniform?
- If you have a uniform and a belt, don't be afraid to wear it. If not, come in comfortable
gym attire that allows a good range of motion. If you plan to stick with the club, you may
purchase a uniform from the club if you need one.
- Can I wear my old belt?
- Absolutely! If you plan to test for a higher rank, please consult with the instructors
about which of our ranks would be the next logical step for you.
- Do I need to pay membership dues right away?
- No. We want you to decide if our club is right for you. We do not require payment of
membership dues until you are certain you want to join. (Generally, new members can attend for
four weeks before we require payment).
